Long and short of it, windows just sent through some updates and windows defender does not say any more definitions like it used to say. It says windows defender security settings from ap store or something like that. Anybody else having new updates installing on windows 10 and do I just leave it do its thing? I was asked about privacy settings and did the best I could with marking them. Any opinions appreciated.

It works as it should.
Your problem, and others, so you aren't alone, is you have to forget about what Windows use to do. Smile.
It simply takes care of itself, so it is vary much worry free now.
Your updates are on, so if and when you really need to do something, you'll know.
Until, relax and enjoy.
Smile.

Thanks for the information. It is different to use 10, but I definitely am glad to have it for speed and this updating thing.

It takes a bit of getting use to and trusting, but it honestly works and is for the most part self maintained.

My problem at the moment is that after the Creator update JAWS is no longer speaking at the log-on screen, Alt+ctrl+del brings up the sign-in screen but JAWS isn't saying so. Having to do tabbing and pressing various things until it does.

You must wait for your computer to get started. Jaws doesn't come up right away.
When you are pressing things, you aren't doing anything but waiting.
For that reason, soon it starts. Smile.
Maybe reinstall Jaws, or make sure you have all the correct settings so it starts at the log on screen enabled.

The way it is now, you have have to have recent updates, because, if you don't, JFW will freeze like an otter-pop. It's annoying, and drives me Nuts!
Like Microsoft having it's "Monthly. Thought I got rid of "That time of the month, years ago. Giggle!
Blessings,
Sarah

Same. Microsoft just wanted to remind you of how pleasurable it was.
Laughing.
Mine doesn't freeze at all, but...

As others said, make sure that you have JAWS starting at the logon screen. Additionally, freedom scientific said, if memory serves, that you need to be running the latest version of JAWS 18 in order to run the creator's update for windows 10. So, do a check for updates and make sure you're running the latest one.

Now that I have windows 10, why does it keep asking for a password at different web sites when I was able to sign in before using a password only once?

Post 11 by AJ Kiely (Generic Zoner) on Saturday, 01-Jul-2017 17:34:02

Thanks for comments guys. What was happening was that JAWS was not speaking, but I could press a button like tab or escape and it would announce, so it had loaded but given no indication that it had done so. I always wait very patiently. :) This part got resolved when Windows added some new feature.
But, still, when Alt+ctrl+delete is pressed, the password prompt isn't coming up. Have to press a few buttons before JAWS seems to recognise this screen. Am sure it will get fixed in an upcoming update to Windows or JAWS.
The other thing FS told me they were working on was the JAWS updates getting stuck at about 95%. Apparently this is happening to some people.
Cheers for thoughts everyone.

Ah, okay. You're problem was not what we thought.

On the other question, what do you mean it ask for password on different websites?
Windows always asked you to sign in to different websites.
You can have IE remember your passwords, and you'll not have to do that, but you should get a prompt to do so.
Maybe that is what you mean. You had your IEor whatever you use set to remember your passwords.
Say what you use, and I'll see if I can tell you how to make it work that way.

Yes it is IE. How do I make it remember my password? Also, is there any way except the research it feature to get a weather report when I turn on the computer? Want to get the most out of this computer.

Sure. lots of ways to get weather. Look in your programs now, I think you have wether. You just need to set it up.
Do a search for them too weather apps.

I know Forereel I worded it really unclearly. :)
as for IE and passwords it should ask you when you enter a password for the first time (or for the first time after deleting password memory) if you would like the browser to remember the password. Alt+n, then y to select 'yes.'

You can do it even after. I've just been lazy and not looked yet, but I will.

To turn on the passwords.
Press alt T to bring up tools.
Arrow up once to internet options.
Shift tab over to content.
Tab to auto complete settings and press enter.
Check the boxes in there you want IE to remember.
Tab to okay, and you’re finished.
There you go.
